I spent two months the summer of 1952 working at the Mansfield Training School. I left to attend the NYU Bellevue School of Nursing in nyc. It was a dismal place. The aides when they fed the cute little Down's toddlers, would hold their noses to make them swallow. People with severe deformatiies as well as one bright child with Spina Bifida were housed there. It is good it is closed.
